book: artists in crisis

I’m honored to have authored a chapter in the newly published book, Artists in Crisis: Rethinking the Mental Health Challenges of Creative and Performing Artists.

This compilation was co-written by a number of international artists and writers, exploring the unique mental health needs of creative people.

The book was edited by Dr. Eric Maisel, Arnoldo Cantu and Susan Raeburn and published by Ethics International Press as part of their critical psychology/psychiatry series that advocates for more compassionate and humane approaches to mental health care.

For my chapter, “Creating to Heal the Wounded World,” I interviewed Mei Love, a Bengali artist, poet and activist.

Remember, only you can make the art you make because it is your story to tell. So, make the art you want to see in the world.
— Mei Love

It was an honor to interview Mei Love for this project. Mei has wonderful thoughts to share about the benefits and challenges to leading a creative life in this world that is often difficult for creative people.
