In this 8-week mindful drawing class you will learn how to draw by observing from life, and develop a mindful creative practice.

You will learn how to use drawing pencils and other art supplies, how to compose a still life and drawing, how to see like an artist and what specific things to look for in your observation, and how to maintain mindfulness and self-encouragement through creative blocks. You will learn a multitude of drawing techniques and practices, such as perspective and shading, that you can apply to many other art media.

You will begin with drawing simple objects and build up the knowledge and skill to be able to accurately draw complex subjects and scenes. By the end of the 8 weeks, you will be able to draw a complex subject such as an animal, and render different textures and surfaces like shiny, reflective, or furry surfaces. By the time you’re finished with this course, if you practice every lesson, you will have the skills to draw competently from observation!

This class will be held on Saturdays, September 11 - November 6, 11 AM - 1 PM Pacific Time. *Note there is no class on October 9.

This is a live, small group online art class on the Zoom platform. This class will be recorded for participants only.
